Keynote Speaker - Robin Shreeve

Mr Shreeve is the CEO of Skills Australia. Skills Australia is an independent statutory body, providing advice to the Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Jobs and Workplace Relations on Australia’s current, emerging and future workforce skills needs and workforce development needs.

 

Mr Shreeve has a distinguished history within the tertiary sector including, Deputy Director-General, Technical and Further Education and Community Education, NSW Department of Education and Training. Prior to this position, Mr Shreeve was CEO of the City of Westminster College, London which provided training to many thousands of students over hundreds of courses


 

Speaker - Phillip Barrow

Phillip has been involved in vocational education and training for almost 25 years across a variety of roles that have included teaching, Faculty Head and senior management within TAFE institutes. From 2003 to late 2007 Phillip fulfilled a range of Project Management positions within the Centre for Innovation and Development (now Queensland VET Development Centre), Department of Education, Training and the Arts and State Development.

He was appointed as the Lead Institute Product Manager, Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE in late 2007 and has state-wide responsibilities to oversee the maintenance and development of training programs for General Education, Language, Literacy & Numeracy, Training & Education, Health and Fashion, Textiles and Footwear.

As Lead Institute Product Manager, Phillip’s role is to work with all TAFE Queensland Institutes and  private Registered Training Organisations as well ensure strong links with industry and relevant Skills Councils.

Speaker - Pam Bigelow

Pamela has managed the Indigenous Lead Centre (ILC) for the past three years. Based at Tropical North Queensland TAFE, the designated ‘lead’ institute for Indigenous vocational education and training for TAFE Queensland, the ILC has State-wide responsibility for course and resource development, research and professional development for Queensland Indigenous vet students and  has been operating since 1996.

Pamela has worked in curriculum and instructional design of Vocational Education & Training products and resources for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, for over a decade. Her work has involved the writing, research, consultation and final accreditation of Indigenous specific courses, design, consultation and publishing of Indigenous learning resources, together with course maintenance and the development and delivery of professional development materials and programs, and additionally as team leader the promotion, team management and business development of the ILC.  Products and resources produced by the ILC include web based electronic, audio-visual and print based materials, all available from www.indigenouslead.com.

The ILC team includes several instructional designers, a graphic designer and web developer. Pamela has worked with Indigenous communities across the Northern Territory and North Queensland for more than 20 years in Natural and Cultural Resource Management and Public and Community Education.
